From England to Africa in a Military Surplus Truck in 1959

Long before overlanding became a hashtag, a small group set out from England in 1959 in a war surplus military truck and pointed it south toward Africa. This film captures that early era of do-it-yourself expedition travel, when the roads were rough or simply did not exist, the maps were vague, and the only way to see the world was to load up a sturdy vehicle and go.
It is a wonderful time capsule of vintage adventure, the same restless impulse that would later send Alby Mangels and his World Safari around the globe.
